Today, 27th of March, Union “Sapari”, Human Rights Monitoring and Education Center (EMC) and Partnership for Human Rights (PHR) presented the preliminary results of civil society’s monitoring of the Georgian Government’s Human Rights Action Plan (2016-2017) on rights of child, gender equality and women’s rights, and rights of persons with disabilities. This report is part of the major research, carried out by several organizations to monitor human rights strategies and action plans.
Representative of “Sapari”, Tamar Golijashvili evaluated the implementation of the Human Rights Action Plan and talked about the existing challenges regarding the women’s rights and gender equality.
The monitoring of human rights-related strategies and action plans is supported by the USAID-funded East-West Management Institute’s (EWMI) program “Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia” (PROLoG) and the Open Society Georgia – Foundation. Within the project a unified monitoring methodology was also developed, which will serve as an important tool for others interested in monitoring similar action plans in the future.
