On April 20, a women’s march took place across various cities in Georgia, organized by the women’s movement. In Tbilisi march started at republic square and culminated at the Parliament, echoing the resolute stance from the previous year: women vocalized their refusal to Russian law and emphasized their determination to uphold hard-won rights.

The latest decision to do away with gender quotas is part of a larger drive to consolidate power, which puts women in Georgia at greater risk. The Parliament rejected the wishes of a sizable majority of Georgian voters—65% of whom favored gender quotas—by eliminating them.

Apart from Tbilisi, the march was held in Kutaisi, Gori, Marneuli, Akhmeta, Bolnisi, Batumi, Ozurgeti and Tsnori.
